Choosing a franchise lead generation partner is mostly about asking questions the bad ones cannot answer. Here is the short list, with the answers you should insist on.

How is each lead verified?

This is the question that ends most sales calls. A form fill proves someone typed. It does not prove they can afford a franchise, want one this quarter, or remember filling in the form.

The answer you want is a phone call: a real person confirmed interest, timeline, liquidity, and net worth before the lead was sold to you. If the answer is "double opt-in email" or "AI-scored," you are buying unverified data at verified prices.

Is the lead exclusive, and how is that enforced?

Every vendor says their leads are exclusive. Few can explain the mechanism. Ask: is this lead sold to anyone else, ever, including later? Is the candidate told who will contact them? An exclusive lead should mean the candidate is expecting your call — not fielding four of them.

How fast does the lead reach me?

Franchise interest is perishable. A candidate verified on Tuesday morning should be in your inbox Tuesday morning, with a text and email notification the moment it lands. Batch delivery — a weekly spreadsheet, a portal you have to remember to check — is a sign the vendor's convenience outranks your close rate.

Also ask whether you control the flow: specific delivery days, and minimum and maximum leads per day or week. A partner who cannot throttle delivery cannot match your capacity to actually call people.

What does a lead cost at each quality level?

Vague pricing hides vague product. A serious partner can tell you exactly what changes between tiers — typically the candidate's verified liquidity and net worth — and what each tier costs per lead. If the pricing page says "contact us" and the tiers say "standard" and "premium" with no definitions, walk away.

Can I see the math to closed franchises?

The only number that matters is cost per closed franchise: total spend divided by deals closed from that source. A good partner will help you build that model honestly, including realistic conversion assumptions. A bad one will change the subject to lead volume.

The red flags, collected

  • No phone verification, or verification described in euphemisms
  • "Exclusive" with no enforcement mechanism
  • Weekly batch delivery into a dashboard
  • Tiers with no financial definitions
  • Unwillingness to discuss cost per close

We built ExecLeads to be the partner that survives this list: every lead call-verified, exclusive to one consultant, delivered in real time, priced openly by tier. See how it works or get in touch.
